Google has stopped booking Uber facilities for users directly through Google Maps app. This feature has been around since 2017 which helped number of consumers to book through few clicks directly through maps. But recently without any intimation Google have just update to the “request a ride” help page about this feature.
“You can no longer book Uber rides directly in Google Maps. But you can still look up the route in the Maps app and then request the ride from the Uber app”
Earlier consumers were able to hunt for booking and pay for an Uber ride within Google Maps app. This facility was provided directly through map without installing the app features.
Now Google have changed its integration which has stopped direct Uber booking but Maps will give an estimate cost and duration of a ride. Customers can install uber app directly into the mobile devices to enjoy the rides. Yet the Google has not revealed what is the reason to take this action with Uber. Consumers will still view the Uber ride option within Google Maps along with other supported ride-sharing apps in your area, but booking a car with Uber will take you to the app page. Then the app installation process starts.
Google integration was stopped from Google Maps on iOS initially and then on Android according to the recent research. However the key reason is not yet disclosed but Uber decided to end up the integration in order to lead more installs of its own app
